Do you still think Analyics updates only once a day?

September 26th, 2008

Most of you probably know this already, but I’ve met a large number of bloggers on the internet who still thinks Analytics updates only once a day. So they can check their results only the following day. How silly! :D

Although Analytics is not real-time, it updates every few hours, maybe even hourly. The fact that I love Analytics so much, because I can see those full-detailed results several times a day, so I know if a certain comment, forum discussion I participated in had an impact or not.

How do you force Analytics to update, so you can check your results for the current day?

Simple. Look at this picture:

Analytics update

When you open that little calendar in the top right corner, it tells you the time range in which the data is displayed. But if you look at it more closely, you can see that the current day is always outside this selection. Why? Because Analytics doesn’t want to show you the incomplete data, cause the day is still in progress.

The solution? A single click on the current date, then hit Apply, and you’re done. Now you can see all data collected today. And you can check it every few hours and it’ll show different numbers. Voila!

Hope this helped for those who were still in the darkness, and I’m curious if anyone has accurate information about how often Analytics updates. I’ll be pleased to hear that.

Thanks for reading, and if you’re one of those who had no idea about this, feel free to share/bookmark this post to help enlighten those who’re still roaming out there and have still don’t know the Secret :D
